Carbon Offsets
I'm going to have to have a serious blog today. Only once or twice a year, that i am serious, but today is one of those days.
There has been was a 'Carbon Offset Watch' report which was an independent survey which helps buyers distinguish the extent to which carbon offset providers are achieving real action to help mitigate climate change. This is a really good report, it can help us, the consumer who wants to do their bit for the environment, it helps understand the differences between carbon offset providers, so we can have confidence in our purchases.
The report reviews 20 carbon offset providers in Australia and rates them based on the quality and reliability of the offset; the providers approach to carbon reduction and management; and the extent to which the carbon products and services actually change or prevent the underlying activities that cause greenhouse gas pollution.
We here at Stevie English are really committed to doing our bit, and I'm glad to say that Climate Friendly who we buy are carbon credits was ranked number ONE!
So that's it really, we can all do our bit, shorter showers, switch lights off, don't put so much water in the kettle it all helps and if you are going to become carbon neutral use www.climatefriendly.com

The Weather
What a week. We had Verity coming back from Melbourne showing off all her work from Fashion Week, well done V. Kirsty, Georgie and Naomi are doing a shoot on Monday for American Crew so they have been prepping hair all week.
The weather has turned it on, it feels like summer! Glebe Point Road was heaving, with people everywhere. Weekends in summer are going to be fun in the salon.

But at the moment Glebe point road is one- way from Parramatta road to mitchell st for 5 weeks, so traffic can run south only. If you are coming from Parramatta road and want to get onto Glebe Point road, turn at Derwent street and then turn right at mitchell street. Any problems please give us a call in the salon.

Verity is doing the hard yards down in Melbourne, early starts late finishes and models with bad tempers, and that is just the start. But the hair she is doing is cool, and the designers she is working with WOW!

A Wounderful Week
Last week had it all, highs(our busiest week ever). Lows, (we didn't win the award) More highs, nominated by the mayor of Sydney in another category. Lows (didn't win) but we are really happy with the way everything is going.
Stevie English Hair is on a bit of a recruitment drive as well, so we are now looking for more staff to join out award winning and dynamic team.

Lord Mayor Sustainability Award
We did not win! I'm slightly bias but i thought Mel and i were some of the best dressed people in the room, did i have my camera, whoops, so sorry no photo!
The Business Awards were quite a tame affair, i think when you are used to hairdresser functions, and lets face it most hairdressers are nuts, anything else seems tame.
We also got Nominated for a Lord Mayor Sustainability Award, which was a pleasant surprise, we didn't win, but to be acknowledged for two awards is wonderful.
Outfit Sorted!
Its the gala night for the City of Sydney business awards tonight, So mel and i will be down having a fancy dinner, I have sorted my wardrobe issues out so going to look sharp.Mel always looks good, so will post a photo tomorrow! well good luck to us, im thrilled to be finalist so i already fell like a winner, but if we pull it off, there is going to be bubbles flowing all week, so might be a good time to get your cut/colour/blowdry.....etc......
